Copy the template email text into your new email. Dear Marie, The recent UK-EU Summit was a welcome step forward for our trading relationship with Europe, but we must go further and faster. The UK needs growth. We need a thriving economy to fund our invaluable public services and rebuild a Britain broken by Brexit and 14-years of Tory turmoil. As one of your constituents I wanted to send you Best for Britain’s landmark report, published by Frontier Economics, quantifying the opportunities for growth from the UK-EU reset (including modelling with and without US tariffs): https://www.bestforbritain.org/growthreport The research reveals that deep alignment in goods and services with the EU could grow UK GDP by up to 2.2%, recovering around half of the OBR's estimated -4% hit to UK GDP as a result of Brexit and it's a more popular way to grow the economy than cutting benefits. I urge the Government not to leave deeper alignment and integration off the table in the run up to the review of the TCA in 2026. The report also models the impact of US tariffs on both the EU and the UK. It shows that deep alignment on goods and services between the UK and EU would eliminate the negative impact for the UK entirely, and reduces the negative impact on the EU by about a third. None of this exceeds the Government's stated 'red lines'. As Emmanuel Macron said in his address to Parliament: “Just as leaving the European Union did not mean the United Kingdom left Europe, efforts to address the challenges facing all of Europe cannot be limited to the European Union alone.". In a time of geopolitical uncertainty, a time of climate change and conflict in Europe and the Middle East - 21st century problems require 21st century solutions. That means collaboration, not isolation. Collaboration in security. Alignment for our economies. Exchange for our cultures. A better deal with Europe is just common sense. If we do not fix the issues plaguing our economy, if we do not make trade with our largest trading partner easier, and if we do not build bridges with Europe, we risk a continuation of the cost of living crisis - the effects of which - are laying out the red carpet for Farage and Reform entering Number 10 in 2029.
