Hey MP! helps people send template messages using their own email account on their own device. This means it's harder for MPs to mark these messages as spam and it makes it clearer to MPs that our campaigns are made up of thousands of individuals.

Copy the template email text into your new email. Dear Daniel, Happy St David's Day! I am writing to you not only to celebrate the national day of Wales but to highlight the danger posed to Wales’ heritage and economy by the UK’s trade deal with New Zealand. As highlighted by NFU Cymru's president, John Davies, this agreement could make Welsh farming "economically unviable" by opening the "floodgates for imports" of New Zealand lamb. This deal and the similar agreement with Australia poses a significant threat to farmers in Wales and across Britain, as they will now be forced to compete with larger farms overseas with lower animal welfare and food quality standards. The impact of these deals, coupled with the challenges already created by Brexit, could devastate rural communities and undermine centuries of farming tradition in Wales. These trade deals did not receive sufficient scrutiny or approval by Parliament and have since been described by a former UK Government Minister as “not actually very good”. In May 2023, the cross-party UK Trade and Business Commission published 114 recommendations [ https://www.tradeandbusiness.uk/blueprint ] based on evidence of 234 expert witnesses, industry leaders and business owners. They advocate establishing a new independent Board of Trade to highlight the dangers in new trade deals to existing British businesses and analyse UK trading performance. They further recommend that all new trade deals receive full scrutiny and approval from both chambers of Parliament. Farmers and rural communities are the backbone of Wales and as my MP I ask that you please review these recommendations and work with colleagues across all parties to advocate for them to help ensure that Welsh farming can thrive.
